Bought a dresser from Craigslist for $25. We are going with an industrial theme in my son's room, so I thought that I would paint it a metallic color but after doing some research I decided I did not want to sand the entire dresser. So I then looked at silver leafing it but didn't want to pay the price for the silver. Sooo I turned to a $3 box of aluminum foil and crossed my fingers.
Original dresser
Once I started putting the aluminum foil on the drawers my first thought was...OMG! What have I done? This is fugly. But I continued on in hopes that it would get better.
But once I added a little black acrylic paint to it, I started to see the potential
In the end, my son ended up with a one of a kind dresser that fits the industrial them perfectly!

Faux Granite Table
In the search for a larger dining table, we ran into a few problems- 1. We didn't have space for a larger table. The solution- bench seats. 2. The cost of new furniture. The solution- DIY.
I was a little hesitant to take on such a project as I can't even draw a stick figure but with cost savings as my motivation I gave it a try.
I found a table on Craigslist for $40 (that way I wouldn't feel so bad if I totally jacked it up). It was in pretty bad condition with scratches and water damage.
Here is the table after I faux painted it without the acrylic top coat

With acrylic top coat and glass top (to protect the paint and easy cleaning)
Being my first DIY project I am very pleased with the outcome.
